Reckon Accounts Hosted - Security Enhancements

Overview

Security Enhancements

Multi-Factor Authentication

We have now enabled Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on Reckon Accounts Hosted. MFA is a security method that requires the user to prove their identity using two or more methods to gain access to a resource such as an application or online account.

See our help page for further information on Multi-Factor Authentication in Reckon Accounts Hosted.

Increased Minimum Password Length

The minimum password length has been increased from seven characters to ten.

Existing users won't be affected, they can still log in with their existing passwords, however the next time the password is updated, it will need to meet the new minimum requirement of ten characters

Where your current password is less than ten characters, we do recommend changing your password via the Manage Users tab in Control Panel

Password Reset Enhancements

When the Forgotten password function is used in Reckon Accounts Hosted, the user will now receive a reset code via email along with instructions on how to use the reset code to change your password.

When new user accounts are created, the password will still be displayed on screen, but will no longer be emailed to the user.

When a Password is reset, the password will no longer be emailed to the user.

Enhancements Released in January

Removal of User-ID

When users sign up for Reckon Accounts Hosted, they are provided with an automatically generated User-ID in the format 123456-1 etc. On the first login to Reckon Accounts Hosted (using the User-ID), users are prompted to create a unique UserName.

Historically user have been able to then log into Reckon Accounts Hosted with either the User-ID or the Username.

To further enhance the security of the Reckon Accounts Hosted environment and protect user accounts,  users can no longer login to Reckon Accounts Hosted using the User-ID (e.g. 123456-1)once they have created a Username.

CaptchaWe have also enabled a Captcha challenge on logins. While most users won't see the Captcha challenge, it will appear for any logins from an IP Address that has been marked as suspicious.

Forgot Username

We improved the Forgotten Username function, it will now return a list of all User accounts linked to your email address.
