Reckon Accounts: Profit & Loss Detail Report Description field shows incorrect memo entry from a General Journal

Legacy KB ID: 5123

Question

Why do some accounts on the Profit & Loss Detail Report show the memo from another account on the same General Journal entry?

Answer

Organise your General Journal so that an entry with no memo is the first line.

The Issue

The Description field on the Profit & Loss Detail Report will show the memo field of General Journal transactions.

Where an entry on the General Journal does not have an entry in the memo field, then the Profit & Loss Detail Report will show the memo entry of the first line of that General Journal transaction.

Workaround

Organise the General Journal entries so that the first line is one that does not have a memo entry.  The remaining lines can be in any order.
