Alternative backup options for a large data file on the Reckon Accounts Business Range desktop

If making a backup using the built-in backup function due to it size just takes too long, it would be a good idea to even just make a COPY of the QBW file.

1) Create a main folder where you can store the copies that are made of the QBW files on your hard disk drive.

Example:

D:\Backups

Do not initially store onto an external USB drive or DropBox or cloud storage linked folder, you can do so later.

2) With these backup folders, create a sub-folder for each time that you make a copy of the QBW.

Give each folder a unique clear label that let you know when that copy of the file was made.

Example:

D:\Backups\2024 Nov\Week 1

D:\Backups\2024\Nov\1st

D:\Backups\2024 November\01

You can organize the folders as you prefer.

3) Exit out of the Reckon Accounts application.

4) Make a copy of your current company data file (QBW) and place that copy into the backup folder structure you've created.

This allow you to even make a daily or every other day copy of the data file.

5) Then at least once a week, make use of the built-in Verify Data function.

6) If there are no errors detected, then at least you know you've got good copies of the file at a point in time when there are no errors detected.

7) If there are errors detected, then make use of the built-in Rebuild Data function.

i. Perform a Rebuild Data operation on the copy of the file that is on your local computer.
