Legacy KB ID: 2121

Question

How does QuickBooks QBiSeries Premier and Enterprise work with Terminal Services?

Answer

This document was prepared to assist Quicken users who intend to use QuickBooks QBi Series in a Microsoft® Windows® 2000 / 2003 Server environment. The following instructions do not detail how to set up your network or Terminal Services. It is assumed users already know how to log on to the server using a Thin Client session. For more information, please read the documentation available with your operating system, or see your system administrator.

Note: When installing QuickBooks, ensure that all users have Power User Group rights on the server. Users who do not have the correct operating system rights to write to the registry keys may not be able to use QuickBooks.

To install QuickBooks on the server:
1. Insert the QuickBooks QBi 2009/10 CD into the server's CD-ROM drive. If the QuickBooks installation window appears, click Quit to exit.
2. From Windows, click Start and choose Settings > Control Panel.
3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
4. Click Add New Programs, then click CD or Floppy. Click Next.
5. In the Run Installation Program window, click Browse.
6. Navigate to D:\QBooks\Setup.exe (where D is the CD-ROM drive).
7. Highlight the Setup.exe file, click Open and then Finish.
8. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. You must reboot the server once the installation is complete.
