Error – 13 type mismatch when clicking the price button in the POS Admin Product List screen

Legacy KB ID: 4515

Question

When I try to change prices in the POS Admin Product List, why does POS Admin crash when I click on the Prices button?

Answer

You will get this error when a registry key that contains information relating to past price changes has been corrupted.

Workaround

  1. Close Retail POS Admin.
  2. Open the Registry Editor:
    1. Windows 7 & Vista: Start button > type regedit into the search box > Enter
    2. Windows XP: Start button > Run > type regedt32 > Enter
If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. Create a backup of the Registry:
    1. On the top menu line, click on File >Export
    2. Select a location to save the file and in the File Name box enter a name
    3. In the Export Range section, click on All
    4. Click Save.
  4. Click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > VB and VBA Program Settings > QuickBooks Point of Sale Administrator > PriceChange
  5. In the right-hand pane you will notice that there is no entry called Adjust Amount.  You will need to create it:
    1. Right-click the white background of the right pane and select New, then String Value
    2. Right click the new entry called New Value #1 and select Rename
    3. Enter AdjustAmount as the new name
    4. Right click Adjust Amount and select Modify
    5. Enter 0.00 into the Value data field and click OK
  6. Close the Registry
