Large numbers for share prices after upgrading to RAP2017

Legacy KB ID: 5522

Question

Why are share prices updates incorrect after upgrading to Reckon Accounts Personal Range 2017?  Most share prices are now in the range of tens of thousands of dollars.

Answer

In the Setup for the share set the Type to Stock.

The Issue

The 2017 edition introduced updates for Australian Market Indices which were previously not available.  The Setup Type for these prices is Market Index, a type that has been available in Reckon Accounts since inception.

Previously, if an Australian share was set as a Type: Market Index, it defaulted to the Type: Stock.  Now, the Type: Market Index will modify the raw data in line with Market Index treatment.  A share price of 51.23 may now appear as 51,230.00.

Solution

Change the Type of the shares to Shares.

1.    On the top menu line, click on Investing > Security List to see all your securities of every type.

2.    Go to the first security and check its type

3.    For each security showing the Type: Market Index, right click it and select Edit

4.    In the Type field, click the dropdown arrow and select Stock

5.    Check that the Exchange field is the appropriate selection - Australia for Australian Stocks, etc

6.    Check that the Asset Class corresponds to the Type and Exchange – ie. Australian Stocks for Type:Stock and Exchange:Australia, etc.

7.    Click OK to save your changes.

Run One Step Update again and your share prices will show correctly for the last 5 days.

Additional Information

If you created custom Security Types and applied them to Australian Shares, in 2017 these shares will not update with One Step Update.  Change their Types to Stock to receive share price updates.
