Error - HTTP Status 404 - /cgi/login when logging onto quickbooks Hosted from a MAC computer

Legacy KB ID: 4663

Question

Why do I get the error:  HTTP Status 404 - /cgi/login when logging onto QuickBooks Hosted from my MAC computer?

Answer

This problem will be experienced by users who have logged onto their MAC computer with a non-admin account, on a second access of QuickBooks Hosted.

The error is generated when a user does not close down the web browser after completing a QuickBooks Hosted session.  Normally, the user can close the web browser and re-launch it and access QuickBooks Hosted.

A non-admin user on a MAC computer does not have sufficient permissions to close the remote access connection associated with the browser session when the web browser is closed.

Workaround

Close the web browser and all programs and restart the MAC computer.  The remote access session will be closed down and allow you to logon to QuickBooks Hosted.

OR

Give the user admin permissions.
