Question

How can I upgrade my data file into Payroll v13 or v14?

Answer

If you are upgrading to Payroll v13 or v14 from v9 or below and the Upgrade Wizard is not detecting your data file complete the following steps;

Note: Ensure File Extensions are displayed in Windows (See 'More Information').

1) Select My Computer > C:\ > Windows.
2) Click the file 'Qpv9.ini' (this file name will vary depending on version, e.g. for version 8 the file will be named Qpv8.ini).
3) Right click this file and select 'Rename'.
4) Rename the file to 'Qpv12.ini'.
5) Close all windows, open Payroll v13 or v14 and proceed to the Upgrade Wizard.

The Upgrade Wizard in Payroll will now detect your data file and reports from the previous version.
