Edit customer invoices in Reckon One

Learn how to edit customer invoices of any status (unpaid, draft, approved or paid) in Reckon One.  

This feature is available on all accounting and Reckon Ultimate plans.

Edit an unpaid customer invoice

An unpaid invoice is an invoice that has not been paid, in a book where invoice approvals are not enabled.

To edit an unpaid customer invoice: 

  1. In the Day to day menu, select Invoices
  2. Click on the invoice. 
  3. Make the necessary changes. 
  4. Click Save or click on the dropdown arrow and choose one of the options in the dropdown menu: 
  • Save only 
  • Save & new to save and create a new blank invoice 
  • Save & close to save and return to the invoice overview screen.

Edit a draft customer invoice awaiting approval

A draft customer invoice is an invoice that is awaiting approval in a book where approvals are enabled. To edit a draft customer invoice: 

  1. In the Day to day menu, select Invoices
  2. Click on the invoice. 
  3. Make the necessary changes. 
  4. Click Save or click on the dropdown arrow and choose one of the options in the dropdown menu: 
  • Save & new to save and create a new blank invoice 
  • Save & close to save and return to the invoice overview screen.

Edit an approved customer invoice

To edit an approved customer invoice, you'll need to first revert it to draft, then edit:

  1. In the Day to day menu, select Invoices
  2. Click on the invoice. 
  3. Click on the Actions menu, thenselect Revert to draft
  4. Make the necessary changes. 
  5. Click Save or click on the dropdown arrow choose one of the options in the dropdown menu: 
  • Save & new to save and create a new blank invoice 
  • Save & close to save and return to the invoice overview screen.

Edit a paid customer invoice

When an invoice has been paid partially or in full, you need to unlink the payments from the invoice before you can edit it: 

  1. In the Day to day menu, select Invoices
  2. Click on the invoice. 
  3. In the invoice totals in the bottom right corner, click on the arrow next to Amount paid
  4. Click Unlink for each payment made on the invoice. This will make the payment amount available as a credit for the customer.  
  5. If approvals are enabled, once you’ve unlinked payments you can follow the steps for editing an approved customer invoice. If approvals aren’t enabled, follow the steps for editing an unpaid invoice.
