New South Wales State Payroll Tax for 2013-14 calculating incorrectly

Legacy KB ID: 4965

Question

Why is the NSW State Payroll Tax calculating incorrectly?  I have installed the 2013 Tax Table Update.

Answer

The new thresholds for NSW State Payroll Tax were announced after the 2013 Tax Table Update was finalised.

Follow these instructions to download and install the latest State Payroll Tax rates and thresholds that contain the new thresholds for New South Wales.

1.    Close Accounts Business

2.    Identify the location of your Accounts Business installation files.

The default location is C:\Program Files (86)\Intuit\ReckonAccounts 2013.  (32bit: ..\Program Files\...);

You can quickly find the location by right-click ReckonAccounts icon > Properties > Open File Location.

3.    Rename the file auStateTax.xml to auStateTax.xml.OLD;

4.    Click on this link: https://library.reckon.com.au/library/xml/austatetax_2806.xmlto download a new auStateTax.xml file.

5.    The contents of the file will open.  Click on File then Save As and save it to your ReckonAccounts installation directory, keeping the name auStateTax.xml.

Multi-user installations (other than Terminal Services users) must carry out these steps on every computer that have QuickBooks installed.

Please Note:  These payroll tax scales are correct as of 28/6/2013.  Payroll Tax scales are subject to change at any time.  Please refer to your State’s Office of State Revenue website for notices of changes.
