Reckon Accounts: Software cannot allow multiple backups to be kept

Legacy KB ID: 4915

Question

I have changed the number of backup copies to be kept, but whenever I do a backup Reckon Accounts Business it still says that the limits number is still at 1.

The option that limits the number of backup copies you can save manually in each folder is set to 1.  The backup copy you're saving now brings the number of manually saved backups to 2.

Is it OK to delete the oldest backup(s) now?

How can I change this number?

Answer

You are experiencing this issue because the reference folder for the limit number of on-demand back-up copies is missing.

Workaround

Windows 11 and 10:
  1. Close Reckon;
  2. In Windows Explorer browse to the folder C:\ProgramData\Intuit.
    If you cannot see the ProgramData folder then it is hidden.  To see a hidden folder:
    1. Click the Organize button > Folder and search options > View;
    2. In Advanced Settings box, under Hidden files and folder, click on Show hidden files and folders;
    3. Click OK.
  3. Create a new folder: QuickBooks 202X:
    1. Click on the New Folder button;
    2. Type over New Folder name with QuickBooks 202X
    3. Click Enter
