Some share prices do not update

Legacy KB ID: 5483

Question

Why do some of my shares not update their price when I run the One-Step Update?

Answer

Enter correct settings in the Security Details.

The Issue

The correct functioning of the One-Step Update is dependent on the Share being correctly configured for its type, Asset class and Exchange.  If one of these fields is incorrect One-Step Update will not be able to correctly identify the share and find the correct updates.

The share must also be ticked in the update quotes list.

In some instances on Windows 10 it is just a display Refresh issue.

Detailed Instructions

Windows10 Users – refresh your display:

1.    Double click on your Brokerage account in the Accounts pane;

2.    Click on the Overview tab

3.    In the As of: date field on the right, set the date to yesterday and then set it back to today

4.    Run the One Step Update

5.    Check that the missing share prices are now visible.

Check the stock configuration:

1.    Go to the Investing Overview screen for your Brokerage account

2.    Right-click a share and select Edit Security

3.    The correct format is:

 4.    Australian shares must have the following settings:

a.    Type:  Stock

b.    Exchange:     Australia

c.    Asset Class:   Australian Stocks

5.    New Zealand shares must have the following settings:

a.    Type:  Stock

c.    Asset Class:   New Zealand Stocks

6.    US shares must have the following settings:

a.    Type:  Stock

b.    Exchange:     Other

Your shares should update properly.

If the problem persists ensure that this share is ticked in the Online Updates Quotes list:

1.    Start One-Step Update

2.    On the Settings screen that opens, click on Select quotes alongside Download stocks & managed fund quotes

3.    Ensure this share is ticked

4.    Click OK to save

5.    Click Update Now to run One Step Update

6.    Check that your share prices have updated.
