Question

How do I generate a report that displays the transaction details (splits) for a specific account?

Answer

To generate a report that displays the transaction details for a specific account:

1) From the Reports menu, choose Transaction Detail Reports, then choose By Date.

2) Click Filters.

3) Choose the specific account you wish to see from the Account drop-down list. (For example, choose Accounts Receivable)

4) Click Yes to "Include split detail?".

5) Select Date in the Filters list.

6) Change the date to the desired time period.

7) Click OK to generate the report. You will see only the transactions that originated from the account specified.

In the example above, the report will show invoices and invoice item details, sorted by date and invoice number. An invoice transaction is represented by several lines which share the same invoice number. The first line of the transaction is the source transaction. This is the total of the invoice shown as a positive number with the account listed as Accounts Receivable, or the account selected in Step 3. Each of the items on the invoice follows below with its assigned account.
