T4 Require a Reason code for variation when submitting BAS through GovConnect

Question

Why do I get the error: “T4 requires a reason code for variation” when I process my BAS through Govconnect?  I am not reporting a variation so I do not need to report a reason code.  Because I have no variation I cannot select a reason code in QuickBooks BAS Lodgement.

Answer

T4 is the reason for the variation of the instalment rate. Prefilled reasons that can be selected from the dropdown list. 

Workaround

In GovConnect, after pre-filling the form, go to the PAYG Income tab.  Blank out the T8 and T9 fields by deleting the zeros that are present. 

The error message will disappear and you will be able to proceed with the BAS Lodgement.
