Super amount above official SA rate does not appear in RESC field

Legacy KB ID: 4927

Question

I am paying my employee 1% above the official Super Guarantee rate, but this amount is not appearing in the RESC field on the Payment Summary.  I have “Calculate RESC difference for SA and/or CA payroll items” in Preferences checked.  Why?

Answer

Although the SG super payroll item is meant for the official super guarantee rate, this rate can be changed by the user.  The calculation for RESC is made against what is paid to the employee and the rate specified in the Super Guarantee super payroll item.

If you have created a separate super payroll item for use on employees receiving above the set official rate, then RESC will be calculated against the rate you entered for this payroll item and not against the official rate.

Users should also consider other incorrect configurations that may be contributing to the problem.

Solution

Eliminate other reasons for the error:

1.    Details entered correctly on super payroll item and employee record

2.    Edit > Preferences > Payroll & Employees > Company Preferences:

a.    Is Calculate RESC difference…. Ticked?

3.    Employee Record > Payroll and Compensatin Info > Super Details:

a.    Is the correct super item selected and correct rate set?

b.    Is “Exempt from Reportable Employer super Contributions tickes?

Do not create separate super payroll items when paying above the Super Guarantee official rate.  Set the amount you want to pay for the employee in the Employee Record.

1.    Go to Payroll and Compensation Info > Super Details;

2.    Click the dropdown arrow next to the special Super item (Super Guarantee Act (SA) and select the standard super item – “Super”;

3.    In the Super Company Contribution, enter the Rate – this must be a percentage and be above the official SA rate;

4.    Click OK to save.

Edit pays already processed with a separate SA super payroll item for above official rates:

1.    Run a Report on your special Super SA payroll item to identify all pays that used the item;

2.    Open the first pay and click on Unlock Net Pay;

3.    Delete the special Super SA payroll item;

4.    Enter the standard Super SA payroll item – the employee’s special rate will populate into the Rate column;

5.    Note that amounts have not changed on the pay;

6.    Click on OK to save.

7.    Repeat for all pays on the Report.
