Legacy KB ID: 5763

Question

How do I stop reducing Super of an employee using their Salary Sacrifice?

Answer

Effective from 1 January 2020 employers can no longer use employee salary sacrificed superannuation contributions to reduce the amount of SG that they pay by the sacrificed contribution amount.

Reference directly from the ATO: https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Super/Growing-your-super/Adding-to-your-super/Salary-sacrificing-super/

To cease reducing the SG amount from Salary Sacrifice items, you will need to:

  1. Go to the Employee Centre > double click on the employee's name
  2. Change tabs to: Payroll and Compensation Info > Super Details...
  3. Un-tick the following option from Employee Settings: Salary Sacrifice items: Reduce Employer Contributions (SA _CA)
