Why does my reconciliation default to a bank account which is inactive?

Question

Why does my reconciliation default to a bank account which is inactive?

Answer

When attempting to do a reconciliation, the account that first appears in the 'Begin Reconciliation' window is an inactive account.

QuickBooks will display the first account in the chart of accounts even if it is an inactive account.

To resolve this edit the inactive account name so that it will not appear at the top in alphabetical order. E.g. if the account starts with A change it to Z and then resort the list so it then appears on the bottom of the chart of accounts.

To resort the Chart of Accounts:

1) In the Chart of Accounts, choose Account > Re-sort List.
2) Click 'Ok'.

The inactive account will no longer appear in the reconciliation window.

How did we do?

Entering Bank Fee and Interest Charges in Reckon Accounts

Cannot access the Online Banking Centre from the Banking menu
