Reckon Accounts crashes when entering Customer or Supplier Centre after creating an Invoice or Bill

Legacy KB ID: 4469

Question

Why is Reckon Accounts crashing when I try to enter the Customer or Supplier Centre? When I Verify the file and no errors are found.

Answer

Corruption is the usual reason for Reckon Accounts crashing.  A corruption may occur in a transaction, a template, a Name, an Item or an Account.

In some instances, it may be a screen resolution set to a level higher than the one for which Reckon Accounts was optimized.

Solution

Check for corruption:

1.    Resort all Lists

2.    Rebuild the datafile then Verify

3.    Create a Portable Company File and restore it.

See this article for detailed instructions on rebuilding: How to Verify Data and Rebuild Data in the Reckon Accounts Business Range (Desktop) - Reckon Help and Support Centre

Check the Screen Resolution.

Reckon Accounts is optimized for a 1024x768 resolution setting.  Settings larger than this one may cause undesirable effects, including crashing Reckon Accounts when a window cannot open properly on the screen.

To change the Screen Resolution

Windows 7:

  1. Right-click the Desktop and select Screen Resolution.;
  2. Click the dropdown box in Resolution and select 1024x768.;

Click OK to complete.

Windows Vista

  1. Right-click the Desktop > Personalize > Display Settings.
  2. Click the dropdown box in Resolution and select 1024x768.;

Click OK to complete.

Windows XP

  1. Right-click the Desktop > Properties.
  2. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
  3. Move the Screen resolution slider to the left to 1024x768 and click Apply.
  4. If the Monitor Settings dialog box appears, click Yes and then OK.
