Reckon Accounts Desktop: Unable to Email Using Hotmail & Outlook via Webmail Feature

Problem:

When trying to email in Reckon Accounts Desktop using the Webmail feature with a Hotmail email address, I get the following error message:

Answer:

Hotmail have updated their server name and the default one that was previously provided is now outdated.

Solution:

  1. Go to the Edit menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Go to the Send Forms tab.
  4. Click on My Preferences.
  5. Update the "Server Name" to smtp.office365.com or smtp-mail.outlook.com
  6. The "Port" can be left as 25 OR it can also be updated to 587.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Try emailing again and it should be successful.
