Error 1526 when updating share prices online

Question

Why do I receive Error 1526 when I try to update my share prices and currency rates online?

Answer

This is due to the update function timing out when trying to access the share price and currency rate update service via the Internet.

Follow these steps:

1) Close the Quicken application.

2) Select the Start menu and Find then Files or Folders.

3) Search for a file named 'quicken.ini'.

4) When this file is located, double-click the file name to edit it in Windows Notepad.

5) Scroll down to locate the 'timeout=x(number)' line under the [internet] section heading.

6) Delete this entire line and save the file.

7) Open Quicken and attempt to update share prices and currency rates.
