Error executing Accounts command: Invalid procedure call or argument when transferring POS data

Legacy KB ID: 5207

Question

Why do I get the error: “Error executing Accounts command: Invalid procedure call or argument” when transferring data from Accounts Business to POS?

Answer

In the Item Description in Accounts business, replace characters not directly entered with the keyboard with entries by the keyboard.

The Issue

The issue is caused by item details in Accounts Business that contain characters that are not typed directly from the standard keyboard. The problem characters may have been copied from Microsoft Word, which changes characters depending on the situation. This causes a problem in POS when it tries to write these characters to a log file during the process of sending the updated prices to Reckon Accounts.

Non-directly entered characters will appear in the POS Administrator Product List as a thin black line.

This issue has been addressed in the 2015 version of POS

Workaround

1.    Identify items with non-direct characters (a thin black line) in the POS Administrator Product List, usually in the Description field

2.    In Accounts Business, edit this item and delete the character that appears as a thin black line in POS and replace it with relevant character on your keyboard.

3.    Return to POS and transfer your data.
