Improving display clarity on Mac when using the New Hosted Platform

The recommended browser for use on Desktop operating systems (Windows/Mac) is Google Chrome.

New Hosted Platform

Option 1: Toggle the Streaming mode

  1. Go to New Platform Toolbar > Preferences > General
  2. Toggle the Streaming mode between Best responsiveness and Best quality.


Option 2: Change the Resolution settings

  1. Go to New Platform Toolbar > Preferences > Display
  2. Use the dropdown menu to select the sharpest Resolution settings.



Google Chrome

Option 1: Toggle the setting for Hardware acceleration in Google Chrome

  1. In Google Chrome, click on the three-dots menu > Settings > System
  2. Toggle the setting for “Use graphics acceleration when available”
  3. Relaunch your session


Option 2: Try a different browser

Try Reckon Accounts Hosted on other browser to see if the issue is Google Chrome-specific.



Mac OS

Option 1: Check Display Scaling

  1. Go to System Settings > Display
  2. Adjust the scaling to find the sharpest option.


Option 2: Check Display Resolution

  1. Go to System Settings > Display
  2. Click on the Advanced button
  3. Enable the Show resolutions as list then click Done
  4. The Scaling setting will be changed to a Resolution list
  5. Adjust the scaling to find the sharpest option.


Option 3: Other Display Settings

  1. Toggle True Tone settings
  2. Change the Colour profile (Default: Colour LCD)
  3. Night Shift adjust intensity or turn off if colours appear unnatural.


Option 4: Accessibility Display Enhancements

Go to System Settings > Accessibility > Display

  1. Increase Contrast: Makes UI elements sharper.
  2. Reduce Transparency: Reduces blur effects in menus.
  3. Reduce Motion: Disables animations that might cause a slight blur effect.



Using an External monitor

Option 1: Disable or Adjust HDR (High Dynamic Range)

If your external monitor is connected via HDMI, switching to DisplayPort or USB-C may improve clarity.

Option 2: External Display Scaling

  1. Go to System Settings > Displays
  2. Select the external monitor and adjust:
    1. Resolution: Choose "Scaled" and test different resolutions.
    2. Refresh Rate: Try setting it to 60Hz instead of higher rates.
    3. Color Profile: If colors look washed out, test different color profiles under Color Profile > Customize.

Option 3: Use a Different Connection Type

If using HDMI, try DisplayPort or USB-C instead.
