Question
Why do I get this error when I open my QuickBooks file? Why does only one user get this error and not other users on other PCs?
Answer
Reckon’s Product Development Team has not been able to replicate this issue so we cannot offer any definitive solutions.
The problem is focussed on reports on Inventory Items and can appear with any Item Report or a QuickReport from the Item List.
We offer these suggestions as steps taken by some users that have resulted in a resolution of the problem for them.
Workarounds
Step 1: Rebuild the data file
1. In the Item List, click on the Items button and select Resort List;
2. File > Utilities > Rebuild;
a. You will be forced to create a backup;
b. Do not over-write existing backups;
3. File > Utilities > Verify;
a. If “QuickBooks detected no problems with your data” is received, this process is complete;
b. If errors were found, Rebuild again and then verify;
c. If errors were still found examine the QBwin.log file for a list of errors. See https://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=336 for full directions.

Step 2: Reset the dots per inch (dpi) Display Settings
1. Control Panel > Display > Set custome text size (dpi);
2. Tick the box Use Windows XP style DPI scaling;
3. Set the Scale to this percentage of normal size: to 100%;
4. Click OK to complete.
Step 3: Set QuickBooks to prompt for date range when opening a report
1. Go to Edit > Preferences > Reports & Graphs > My Preferences tab.
2. Tick the box: Prompt me to modify report options before opening a report;
3. Click OK to save preferences.

Step 4: (Enterprise users only) Create reports in QODBC
See KB https://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=4179 for instructions on installing the QODBC driver
Step 5: Create a new Company File
