Error code -20 when printing the GST101 Report on RAH

Question

Why does printing a report like the GST101 Report on Reckon Accounts Hosted fail with the message:  “Printer not activated, error code -20”?  Other reports print without difficulty.

Answer

There are two ways of printing the GST101 Report:

1.    Click Print on the Report Screen and print in the normal Hosted fashion

2.    Click Print GST101 Report will open the PDF form in Adobe. 

You may experience this error when you select the second option – Print GST101 Report.

In Adobe the default printer is Reckon Accounts PDF Converter which cannot accept commands from a user.  Attempts to use it generates the -20 error.  After a clicking OK on the error message a second message appears behind the Hosted screen and so you are unaware of it.  You cannot print again until you respond to that message. 

The correct printer to use is the Reckon Printer (redirected XX). 

 

To clear the error:

1.    Click OK on the message;

2.    Click Alt+PageUp to bring background screens to the forefront

3.    On the Adobe Reader message – The document could not be printed. – click on OK to clear it.

You are now clear to print again.

To correctly print via the Print GST101 Report option.

1.    In Adobe, click on the Printer icon to start the printing process;

2.    In the Print dialog box, click the dropdown on the Printer field

3.    Select the Reckon Printer (redirected XX) printer;

4.    Make any other desired adjustments;

5.    Click Print to print.
