Bad Request when launching Reckon Accounts Hosted
Legacy KB ID: 5216
Question
Why do I continually get a “Bad Request” message when I launch Reckon Accounts Hosted at the Desktop? It happens in all browsers I use.
Answer
Turn off the proxy server settings in the Local Area network settings of your browser
The Issue
A Bad Request error can result from too high security levels on your browser, blockage by your computer’s firewall, or working through a proxy server.

1. Click on Tools -> Compatibility View Settings
2. In the box: "Websites you've added to Compatibility View", highlight: reckon.com (and if it exists, hosted.reckon.com)
3. Click Remove
Reduce security levels:
1. Tools > Internet Options > Security
2. For Security level for this zone, slide the setting one notch lower;
3. Click on Privacy tab and slide the setting one notch lower.
4. Click Ok

Add Reckon to Trusted Sites:
1. Tools > Internet Options > Security > Sites
2. In “add this website…” enter reckon.com and click Add, then Close.

Uncheck Proxy Server
1. Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings
2. untick the option: Proxy Server.

Google Chrome users
1. Click the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon in the top right.
2. Settings > show Advanced Settings > Network
3. Click on Change proxy settings
Internet Explorer’s Internet Properties > Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window will open
