Time duration does not calculate the Totals in an exported Time by Job report from Reckon Accounts Hosted

REFERENCE: RH-3701

Issue

This issue is still being investigated and may be fixed in future releases.

In the Time by Job reports, the Duration column contains the time spent on various jobs for each customer, listing the type of work performed on Service items.

When exporting the report in a spreadsheet, the duration value is present, but the totals — using a formula — are not being calculated.

Reason

The formula works and using the correct cell format.

However, the cell format for the values in the duration column are displayed as numbers but are treated as text.

Numbers that are displayed as left-aligned in a cell are generally treated as text.

Workaround

Convert to Number method

When using a Decimal time format, the spreadsheet will be able to apply the error checking rules for numbers formatted as text. When an affected cell is selected, it will display a warning icon.

  1. Select the top-most affected cell
  2. Then, highlight all affected cells
  3. Click on the warning icon
  4. Select Convert to Number

Text to Columns method

When using a Minute time format, the spreadsheet cannot apply the error checking rules.
  1. Select the entire Duration column
  2. Go to the Data menu and select Text to Columns
  3. On the Convert Text to Columns Wizard window, just click on Finish
