Error " Referenced Memory could not be written " or " Not enough memory "

Legacy KB ID: 866

Question

In the recieve payment screen, when I try to apply a credit to an invoice I get an error about Referenced Memory could not be written or Not enough memory.

Other results can be that the program freezes then closes or gives C=343 error. It may also refer to an error relating to qbtool32.dll. Why?

Answer

This error occurs when the combined length of the Customer and Job that is selected has 55 or more characters.  Edit either the Job or Customer name to reduce the combined lenght to 55 charecters long.

To do this;

  1. Open the Customer Job List; Click on the Lists menu and choose Customer:Job.
  2. Find the Customer/Job name in question and double click to edit.
  3. Modify the name as required.
