Why does the G15 field in the BAS report always show a zero value?

Legacy KB ID: 2865

Question

I have edited a personal use category and in the Tax, box linked it to tax line G15 in the BAS. When I use the category, the figures are not reflected in the BAS report. Why?

Answer

There is no way to link a category to the G15 field in the BAS report.

This should not present a problem as the G15 field is not included in the ATO's current simplified BAS.

Personal use component amounts should no longer be included at G10 and G11 thus removing the requirement for an amount to appear at G15.

This can be achieved by splitting the purchase transaction into 2 or more split lines, the first split line has a purchase tax code assigned and reflects the amount allocated to business use while the second line has no tax code and reflects the amount allocated to personal use.
