This file is already in use. Select a new name or close the file in use by another application.

-OR-

Another user is currently using this company file in single use mode. They must be in multi-user mode so you can also use this company file..."

Answer

Can be due to a problem on a computer/network, or datafile corruption.

Try rebooting file server and all Reckon Accounts machines if on a network, else just reboot the local machine.

Try opening the file again.

Try opening the file in multi-user mode.

If you can get into the file do a verify and rebuild if possible then verify again, else look at qbwin.log By Minimizing Reckon Accounts Application and go to Start => Find => Files or Folders

In the “Named” field, enter qbwin.log and make sure that in the “Look in”, you have selected This PC.

Open the file Qbwin.log with Notepad

Scroll to the bottom of the file.
