Modifying a tax code error; Must be of type 'other current liability'

Question

Why do I receive this error message when I attempt to modify a tax code in my tax code list; The collected account must be of type 'other current liability?

Answer

This error occurs in files that have been upgraded from previous versions. Importing the tax code list will correct the error:

  1. From the Window menu choose Close All.

  2. Click on the File menu and choose Utilities > Import > Import IIF Files.

  3. In the next window you'll need to navigate to the installation directory default C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks (Pro).

  4. Locate the taxoz.iif file (2KB), double click to open the file.

  5. Click OK on the message "Your data has been imported and attempt to edit the tax code once again."

How did we do?

The error message is C=342, L=6500, module =ELCACCN. While attempting to edit the chart of accounts item.
