Question
Why do I get this error when opening a POS Terminal?
Answer
You will get this message if your POS Terminal is configured to look for the POS database file in the wrong location.
By default, the database file QBPOS.PDB is located in the C:\Reckon\Retail Point of Sale Professional 20xx Administrator\ folder.
This file can be moved to any location on the POS network – Admin PC; Terminal PC or Network drive.
Both the POS Admin and the POS Terminal must be working with the file from the same location.
Detailed Instructions
- Search your Admin PC, Terminal PC and Network drives to identify all instances of QBPOS.PDB files. Take note of locations and dates.
- In Windows Explorer, go to: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Reckon\PointOfSale
- Right click on PointOfSale.ini and open with Notepad
- Under [AdminDatabase] check the database path: DatabasePath=C:\Reckon\Retail Point of Sale Professional 20xx Administrator\QBPOS.PDB
- Under [TerminalDatabase] check the database path: DatabasePath=C:\Reckon\Retail Point of Sale Professional 20xx Administrator\QBPOS.PDBThese must be the same. If they are different, determine which is correct and change the other to the same path in this file.
- Save and close the file.
