Error: "You may not have enough space on your hard drive to complete this backup"

Legacy KB ID: 1317

Question

How do I resolve the following error messages I received when backing up a company data file? "You may not have enough space on your hard drive to complete this backup." -OR- An error that contains the value C=10

Answer

These errors occur when backing up a company data file to a hard drive or a data storage drive that has little or no space, or is damaged.

To resolve this:

Clear more disk space if you are backing up to the computer's hard drive, or use a new Data storage drive, then try to back up the company data file again. Using hard drives or storage drives that are free from damage is essential.

If you back up to a damaged storage drive, you may not be able to restore that backup. To help ensure that the storage drive you are using is not damaged, we recommend formatting the storage drive before the first use, as even a new storage drive can have bad sectors.

For more information on formatting, from the Windows® you may check this out.

You may want to consult your system administrator for more assistance.
