Question

When trying to open my Reckon Accounts (previously QuickBooks) file across the network, why do I get the error: “You do not have sufficient permissions to delete files in the specified folder. To use Reckon Accounts in a multi-user environment, you must have read/write access and create/delete rights to the folder where the company file is stored. Please ask your system administrator to give you permissions to the specified folder. Click Help for more information.”

Applies to:

Reckon Accounts user with Trend Micro internet security installed.

Answer

The contents of this article are for general guidance only and you should seek professional advice relating to your own specific circumstances before acting.

This problem may be encountered by multi-users with Trend Micro Security following a recent upgrade (about 31/05/2018), after which Trend Micro no longer allows access to files and folders unless they are made exceptions.

Workaround:

Add the Reckon Accounts data files folder in Exception list of the Trend Micro, so the folder remains unscanned.

Please note you should speak to your system admin prior to undertaking this workaround.

Please refer to Trend Micro’s support guide here to add Reckon Accounts data folders in its exception list.

On the Host PC or file Server:

  1. Add the folder containing your Reckon Accounts company files.
  2. Add the folders C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit to ensure access to Sample files and the default directory for Reckon Accounts files
On all other workstations:

  1. Add the folder C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit to ensure access to Sample files and the default directory for Reckon Accounts files.
  2. If company files are stored locally, add the folder containing Reckon Accounts company files.
