When selecting “sell all shares in this account”, does not pick up all shares.

Legacy KB ID: 5329

Question

I am selling all my holding of a particular share.  When I select the option “Sell all shares in this account”, a fraction amount remains.  Why?

Answer

Refresh all the transactions for this share and try again.

The Issue

This is a problem that may be encountered with Unit Trusts, where a fraction of a unit (expressed as a decimal) are common.   One or a number of the transactions are partially corrupt and not reporting properly.

Workaround

Refresh all the transactions involving this share.

1.    Go to Portfolio view - Investing tab > Portfolio tab

2.    Click on the Unit Trust you are selling to open Transaction History

3.    Click on the first transaction that has a dollar value to open it

4.    Click on enter/Done to close it

5.    Repeat for every transaction with a dollar value.

When you go back to the Portfolio view the number of units will have adjusted.

Now “Sell all shares in this account” and the amount of shares being sold will equal the balance shown on the Porfolio view.
