Printer not activated -20 error when emailing or Save as PDF after upgrading to Windows 7 and later.

Legacy KB ID: 5101

Question

Why do I get the error “Printer not activated: -20” when I print from Accounts Business after upgrading my operating system to Windows 7 and later?

Answer

You’re experiencing this problem because in Windows 7 and later, a registry key the Reckon Accounts V4 PDF Converter (for 2014 edition) is not updated in the upgrade.

Workaround 1

Uninstall and re-install the Reckon Accounts PDF Converter.

Follow the guide on this KB:  https://kb.reckon.com.au//issue_view.asp?ID=4546.

You must use a user account with Administrative permissions.

Workaround 2

Adjust permissions in the Registry.
