Unable to email payslips from Reckon Accounts

Legacy KB ID: 4516

Question

Why am I unable to email payslips from Reckon Accounts?  I have no trouble emailing other forms like invoices and reports. I am able to print the payslip.

Answer

You will experience this problem if the file path and/or the file name is too long.

Workaround

Reduce the length of the company file to less than 28 characters.

If the problem persists and you have a long file path, share the immediate folder and map a network drive.  For Windows 7 the steps are:

  1. In Windows Explorer, go to the directory one level above the company file, so that the folder that contains the company file is seen in the list;
  2. Right-click the folder then select > Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing button;
  3. Tick the box Share this Folder
  4. Enter a name for the share in the box Share Name;
  5. Click on the Permissions button;
  6. Check Users and User Groups that have permissions.  Click on Add to add more users and User Groups.  Click OK to finish;
  7. Tick the Allow box for Full control;
  8. Click on OK to complete;
  9. Map a network drive for the shared folder:
    1. In Windows Explorer click on Computer
    2. At the top of the screen, click on Map a Network Drive
    3. Select a Letter for the Drive;
    4. Browse to the folder
    5. Click "Finish".
