File not backed up, when I backup my Reckon Personal Range file.

Legacy KB ID: 2680

Question

When creating a backup of my Reckon Personal Range file, why do I receive the error?

File not backed up.

Answer

This error message is a benign error as the file is backed up.  It will occur where the name of the file is longer than 8 characters, includes non-alphanumeric characters (!, @, #, -), or has spaces. Some systems may experience intermittent issues when trying to copy file names in this format.

To resolve this issue, rename your file and then try the backup again:

 1. From the Quicken File menu, choose File Operations, and then choose Rename.

 2. In the Rename Reckon Personal Range File window, select the file.

 3. Enter a new name for the file in the New Name for Reckon Personal Range File field. Make sure that the new name is less than eight characters long, does not contain any non-alphanumeric characters, or spaces.

4. Click OK.
