Destination Disk Full When Restoring A File

Legacy KB ID: 2716

Question

When restoring a file, error: destination disk is full -restore unsuccessful.

Answer

There are several possabilites which can cause this problem. Go through each one of these processes to see which one can resolve the problem. Note: These steps require good knowledge of Windows. 1) If the backup file is on one disk, copy the contents of the disk to the desktop, and restore from the desktop. 2) If restoring the backup from multiple disks. Go to Quicken, create a file with the same name as the backup file, and create one account. Then go to disk and restore, say yes to overwrite existing file. Restore will now proceed. 3) If this doesn't work it could be a faulty floppy disk, try copying the file to the hard drive if Windows brings up a message that says "can't read from the specified device" it means the floppy disk is faulty.
