"You must be in Single User Mode...." when making Inventory adjustments across a network.

Legacy KB ID: 3855

Question

Why am I asked to switch to single user mode when I try to make an Inventory Adjustment?

Answer

To make changes to Inventory Adjustments in Reckon Accounts Premier you must have the file in Single User mode.

Reckon Accounts Enterprise does allow you to make Inventory Adjustments while in Multi-User mode.

Workaround

1.    Ask other users to log out of the file.

2.    Switch file to Single User Mode

3.    Make Inventory Adjustments.

4.    Switch file back to Multi-User mode.

Additional Note

If the PC you are working on is not the File Server or Host PC for the company file, after you switch the file back to Multi-user mode, check that your PC is not hosting multi-access:

·         File > Utilities

·         If you see Stop Hosting Multi-User Access, click on it to switch it off.

·         If you see Host Multi-User Access, your PC is correctly set.

Having a second PC switched to hosting multi-user access will increase the time to open a company file and may prevent access to the company file.
