Export to Excel option is greyed out

Question

Why is the option to export a report to Excel greyed out?  The CSV option is available.

You may also see an error:  Unrecoverable Error 14900 31866

Accounts Business does not recognize that Microsoft Excel is installed. Accounts Business finds Microsoft Excel by reading registry entries. If it cannot find Microsoft Excel then:

·         The user does not have sufficient permissions to read the Windows Registry;

·         Your installation of Microsoft Excel is damaged.

·         Your installation of Reckon accounts is damaged.

·         Your registry is damaged. 

·         You are not using a supported version of Microsoft Office.

 

Solutions

1.    Run Accounts Business (formerly QuickBooks) with an administrator account.

i.      Close Accounts Business;

ii.     Right-click the Accounts Business desktop icon or executable file (QBwin32.exe);

iii.    Properties > Compatibility

iv.   Under Privilege level, tick run this program as an Administrator

                                          i.    If the user to this PC does not have Administrator rights, then he will have to supply an Admin username and password when prompted;

v.    Windows 7 & Vista users only:

                                          i.    Tick the box: Run this program in compatibility mode for;

                                         ii.    Select Windows XP (service pack 2) from the dropdown menu.

Launch Accounts Business and try the Export to Excel function.

 

If the problem persists, continue with the following steps until the issue is resolved.

 

2.    Repair your Microsoft Office installation. 

                      i.        Close Accounts Business and Microsoft Office;

                     ii.        Obtain your Microsoft Installation disk and Activation codes (you may need to refer to your IT professional)

                    iii.        Control Panel > Programs and Features;

                   iv.        Right-click Microsoft Office… and select Change > Repair

Open Microsoft Office and launch Reckon accounts and try the Export to Excel function.

 

3.    Check your Microsoft Office version.

                      i.        In a Microsoft Office product click on Help > About

                     ii.        Click to Run, Trial and Starter Edition versions of Microsoft Office or Excel do not support integration with Accounts Business;

                    iii.        Install a supported version of Microsoft Office.

 

4.    Repair the Accounts Business installation. 

                      i.        Close Accounts Business;

                     ii.        Control Panel > Programs and Features;

                    iii.        Right-click Reckon Accounts and select Uninstall/Change;

                   iv.        Follow the Wizard to Repair your Reckon accounts installation;

                    v.        Launch Accounts Business, open your company file and Activate.  Then test the Export to Excel function.

 

5.    The Windows Registry is corrupt - refer to your IT professional for guidance.
