Data Recovery: How to rename a TLG file on Reckon Accounts Hosted or Reckon Accounts desktop

An way to reset the TLG file is to simply rename or delete it.

Detailed steps.

  1. Login to Reckon Accounts hosted, but do not open your company file. If the company data file is in-use it will not allow you to rename the TLG file.
  2. Click on the file Download icon on the floating toolbar.
  3. Click on ‘Look In’ dropdown arrow and select your Q: drive or locate the shared folder in which your QBW file is located which is also where the TLG file is stored
  4. You can try to visually locate the relevant TLG file (look at the Type column for tlgFile) or type into the File name: field *.TLG and then press the Enter key on the keyboard which should then only show files with TLG in their file extension.
  5. Scroll down to locate the correct TLG file that you wish to rename.
  6. Select/Highlight the file by Right clicking on it with your mouse.
  7. Once the desired file is selected, Press F2 on your Keyboard.
  8. The data file name will now be Editable. Change it by adding a prefix "DO NOT USE" to file name and click anywhere else to save it.
  9. The TLG File name is now changed and saved, so when you next open your company data file a new TLG file will be created.
