Cannot replace a category on a transaction in Quicken

Question

Why can’t I change the category on a memorized transaction in Quicken?  I can change some but not all.

Answer

You will experience this issue when you try to change a category in the Splits window under a couple of conditions:

·         The full name (category:sub-category1:sub-category1a) is too long to appear in full in the column inside the Add Category window that opens when you click on the dropdown arrow;

·         You first hover your mouse over the category name before selecting it.

You will not experience this issue if you select the category immediately. 

 

 

Workaround

Do not hover over the category. 

Point to the category and select it immediately.
