Destination disk is full when trying to restore a data file.

Legacy KB ID: 2732

Question

Why does an error message appear stating, 'Destination Disk is Full' when I try to restore a backup? The backup file is on a floppy disk and the hard drive that I am restoring to has plenty of free space.

Answer

The problem may be caused by the program trying to restore to the A (floppy) drive.

Make a new file on the hard drive with exactly the same name as the backup, setting up a current account as requested. Then try to restore the backup. The program should try to restore to the hard drive and will ask if you want to replace the existing file with the same name. Say yes and the file should restore successfully.

Alternatively, if the backup is on a single floppy disk you can copy the files across to the hard drive and then open the file from the File menu.
