Legacy KB ID: 45

Question

How do I delete all my unwanted Reckon Accounts Company Files?

Answer

You can perform a widcard file search in Windows, allowing you to see all your currently installed Company Files.

To do so, you can follow these steps (applicable to Windows 10/11):

  1. Open your File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to "This PC" or "This Computer".
  3. Up in the top-right-hand corner, click on "Search "This PC"".
  4. Type in *.qbw
This is a wildcard file search. You can also search for Backups (*.qbb), Portable Files (*.qbp), and Accountant's Copy files (*.qba, *.qbx, *.qby).
  5. Once a file list has generated, right-click on any file you wish to delete, and select "Open File Location". You will be taken to the file.
  6. Delete the file.
Please note: Deleted files that go into the recycle bin by accident have a chance to corrupt if they are restored improperly. Delete files at your own risk.
  7. Once you have done this, in the top-left-hand corner, click on the back arrow.
  8. Repeat step 5-7 as desired.
