Changing transactions prior to closing date

Question

When I enter a trasaction I get this error message "This transaction is prior to the closing date of this company file. This will effect your accounting. Are you sure you want to effect this change?"

Answer

This happens when the transaction date is set before the opening date of the data file. Check the date of the transaction and make sure it is for the correct date.

If it is correct, do the following :-

  1. Switch to single user mode if in multi user mode
  2. Click on the File menu, select "Set Up Users And Passwords" then select "Setup Users".
  3. If the program asks for you to enter in a Admin password, type in a password you will remember then click OK.
  4. Click on "Set the Closing Date".
  5. You can set the correct closing date for the file here. Once entered click on OK then click "Close".
