Why do I receive the following error when I attempt to update my stock prices in my quicken program?

Unable to verify Network connection. Please start the network manually, or set it up for auto dial.

Answer

This error requires editing the windows registry. Please carefully follow the instructions, failing to do so may cause irregular behaviour to your computer or other software installed on the machine.

1. Click on the windows Start Button and choose Run

2. In the Open field Type: REGEDIT

3. Registry Editor should now open; on the left pane, locate the folder called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and double click on this.

4. On the right pane you should find a folder called SOFTWARE, double click.

5. Next find a folder called Intuit, double click.

6. In there you should find InternetClient, double click.

7. Then there will be a folder ISP, double click.

8. Locate folder ConnectTo, double click.

9. On the right side you'll find a value called (default), double click.

10. An Edit String window should appear, change the value from; www.qfn.com to www.quicken.com.au and click ok.

11. The new value data should now be saved, close down the registry editor.

The error should now be resolved.
