Term Deposit maturity date changes to 1/1/1900 in Quicken Alerts Centre

Legacy KB ID: 4381

Question

Why does the maturity date of a term deposit show as 1/1/1900 in the Quicken Alerts Centre?

Answer

This error has been reported by only a handful of users and we have not been able to replicate the issue.

The error will arise when you have added the term deposit to the Alerts Centre and you then change the “as of” date on that Term Deposit’s Overview screen away from the current date, either into the past or into the future.

Our inability to replicate the issue suggests the error is due to environmental conditions, and is possibly related to “in-memory data corruption”.

Workarounds

Workaround 1:  Upgrade to the latest release version of Quicken.

Workaround 2:  Delete and reinput the Term Deposit:

1.    On the top Menu line, select Investing > Security List;

2.    Left-click on the Term Deposit;

3.    Select Delete from the Security List Menu Line;

4.    Go to the Investing Centre > Today’s Data;

5.    Click on Add Account and set up the Term Deposit again;

6.    Setup an alert for the Term Deposit;

7.    Do not change the “as of” date on the Investing Overview section.

Note:  If you must change the “as of” date then you should not setup an alert for the Term Deposit.

Workaround 3:  Validate and Super Validate your Quicken data file:

1.    File > File Operations > Validate > select your data file > OK;

2.    File > File Operations > hold down the Ctrl key and click Validate > select your Quicken data file > OK.

Workaround 4:  Refer to your IT Professional to clean and check your Random Access Memory (RAM) and Virtual memory.
