Credit Card Payments

Offering your customers a quick and easy way to pay their invoices is simple with Credit Card Payments. You'll get paid faster, improve your cash flow, and your customers will appreciate the added convenience that doing business with you brings.

Get Paid Faster

Credit cards make it easier for your customers to pay on time. Your customers will be able to pay using their VISA, MasterCard, Bankcard, American Express or Diners Club cards either over the phone or in person. All you require to begin processing credit card transactions directly within Reckon Accounts is an Internet Merchant Account* with an acquiring institution and access to the Internet.

* If you do not have an Internet Merchant Account, please contact the Merchant Solutions team at your bank, American Express or Diners Club International.

Credit Card Processing in a Secure Environment

Reckon has partnered with PayPal, the world’s leading transaction provider on the Internet, to offer you the ability to process credit card transactions directly within Reckon Accounts in a familiar and completely secure environment.

Seamless Integration Means Improved Efficiency and Accuracy

For existing Internet Merchant Account holders, subscribing to Credit Card Payments will mean that you’ll no longer be required to transpose credit card transaction details into Reckon Accounts after the event. Processing credit cards within the application will mean that Reckon Accounts acts as a virtual point-of-sale solution for your business. You will now be able to make the sale, process payment via credit card and provide your customer with a sale receipt/tax invoice instantaneously.

Save Money

You don't need a card swipe terminal or dedicated phone line. There's no additional hardware or software to install. All you need is Reckon Accounts Accounting (or higher) and an Internet connection.

How It Works

Credit Card Payments is a month to month subscription-based service offering. Upon subscribing to this service, you will automatically receive access to be able to process credit card payments within Reckon Accounts. PayPal will invoice you only for what you use. And as a Reckon customer, you get access to no setup fee per account, special costs of 35c a transaction plus a $30 monthly fee per account. This equates to some of the best value around.

A Completely Integrated Solution

Once your subscription has been activated, you will be able to process sales and credits directly from within Reckon Accounts. The transaction is approved or declined within seconds, and you can reconcile your payments and refunds via a daily transaction report provided by VeriSign. In the meantime, the credit card transaction will be settled overnight and deposited into your designated Merchant bank account.

Processing credit card transactions within Reckon Accounts is as simple as selecting an additional checkbox at the time of recording the payment or refund. Once the transaction has been processed, you will receive instant notification of its success or failure, as well as providing you and your customer with a printed transaction receipt if required. The transaction will then be processed within Reckon Accounts upon saving, automatically accounting for the transaction details and posting the amounts to the relevant account in your Chart of Accounts.

Common Questions

What credit card types can be processed within Reckon Accounts?
The following credit card types can be processed within Reckon Accounts:
- VISA
- MasterCard
- Bankcard
- American Express
- Diners Club
Which Australian Banks (or acquirers) can I obtain an Internet Merchant Account from that can be used with Reckon Accounts and PayPal's Payflow gateway?
You will need to determine what credit card payment types you are willing to accept. Once determined, you will need to establish a merchant acquiring relationship that supports these credit card types. This may require you set up more than one Merchant Account. See Services and Financial Institution matrix.
Will I be able to use Credit Card Payments with my current Merchant Account?
If you have a banking relationship with ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, Westpac, American Express or Diners Club, currently accept credit cards, and would like to accept credit cards within Reckon Accounts, you will need to open an Internet-specific Merchant Account with your bank. Contact your bank to determine if your existing account will allow you to process Internet-based credit card sales.
What is transaction processing?
Transaction processing involves the round trip transfer of financial transaction data (e.g. consumer credit card information) from a merchant's Reckon Accounts application to a processing network, and thereafter completes the transfer of funds to the merchant.
How long does a typical transaction take?
A typical transaction - including the response - will occur within 5 seconds. If you do not receive a transaction response, or if you receive a "time out" error message, there may be problems with your Internet service, or other network communication errors. Check with your system administrator to verify that your system's Internet connections are functioning.
How secure is the PayPal's payment platform?
A critical concern for electronic commerce is the secure transmission of data. To protect consumer data during transmission, PayPal uses the latest SSL encryption technology that securely passes transaction data to the VeriSign gateway.

However, an even bigger security threat to electronic commerce is the storage of sensitive data. To prevent data compromise in the storage server, PayPal stores sensitive transaction information on secure systems that cannot be accessed through the Internet. Furthermore, PayPal uses hardware and software firewall technology and additional encryption technology to eliminate all opportunity for intruders to break into a server and compromise information.
