"Printer not activated, error code -20" when using non-DCV Printer in the new Accounts Hosted platform

Overview

Users may encounter the error message "Printer Not Activated, Error Code -20" when attempting to print using any printer other than the DCV Printer in Reckon Accounts Hosted.

To resolve this issue, ensure that the DCV Printer is selected before printing.

Issue

Printing errors occur when a non-DCV printer is selected as the default. Since the system remembers the last printer used, selecting a different printer can lead to errors upon future print attempts, which can cause the error message:

"Printer not activated, error code -20"



Solution

  1. Open any affected utilities that require printing (e.g., ABA, Employee Organizer, or TPAR).
  2. When the print dialogue appears, check the printer list.
  3. Scroll and locate the DCV Printer (it should have a green checkmark indicating it is the default).
  4. If another printer is selected (highlighted in blue), manually select DCV Printer and click Print.


Once you select the DCV Printer and print successfully, the setting will be remembered for future print jobs.
