The hours accrued per hour paid figure set to every hour worked changes if my preference is set to decimals in QuickBooks QBi

Legacy KB ID: 381

Question

Why does my leave figure change when using accrual period Every Hour and time format based on decimal in Reckon Accounts?

Answer

In Reckon Accounts, the precision of time type variable is up to one second.

Here is an example of how Reckon Accounts rounds leave accrual:

If you enter 0.07692 in the Hours accrued per hour paid field, Reckon Accounts converts it into seconds and rounds it to 277 seconds, i.e. 0.07692 X 3600 = 276.912

Therefore, Reckon Accounts works out 277 / 3600 = 0.07694*

If you use preference to show Time Format as Minutes, then you can see the precision is up to second as well.

Rounding on some amounts seems to add 1 cent.
